Finish your document
So you’ve made all the decisions about printing or copying your document, but how will you finish it off to create a professional look? At Printsprint we provide finishing services that will achieve a professional and quality look to your product. These services include:
Binding
We have the technology to create basic or professional binds for your document. Our electronic guillotine will ensure precise cutting of your document prior to binding, creating a clean edge. Cost, size and quality are all things you will need to consider when binding your document. Ask for advice on binding, otherwise you may find you have problems such as creep. Types of bindings we offer include:
- Plastic Comb Binding. Comb Binds have an attractive appearance and are great for technical reports, manuals and proposals. The advantage is that documents will lie flat when opened and can be updated. Available in A5 and A4 and in a variety of colours and widths, comb binding also allows materials to be changed and rebound.
- Wire Binding. Wire coil binding is similar to the plastic comb in that holes are punched and the coil then added. It is also great for laying a document flat on a table or for folding the document back on itself. It looks more professional than plastic combing, but not as good as saddle or perfect binding. Available in 8mm to 14.3mm in white, bronze, silver and black.
- Tape Binding (Fastback). This is a neat, attractive and cost-effective process of glue binding a document. Ideal for small to larger documents or manuscripts. Available in a variety of colours.
- Esi-Bind. The Esi-Bind system comprises a wrap around cover (plastic front, card backing) with a hot-melt adhesive strip in the spine. It is a permanent system with an attractive appearance.
- Steel Back Binds. This has a steel back bind with a hard cover, ideal for documents that are intended to be kept for a long period of time. Available in green, blue and black. Foil lettering can be added.
- Slide Binding. A 5mm, 9mm or 11mm black or white A4 solid plastic spine is used to hold reports together. The advantages are that one or two pages can easily be added, with the plastic slide slipping on and off.
-
Thesis Book Binding. Printed on acid free 100gsm stock, perfect bound in a hard cover. A selection of colours available. Gold or silver foil text is also available for the front and spine.
- Saddle Stitched Booklet. An inexpensive and attractive way of binding a booklet where folded pages are stitched through the spine using staples. It is a good method because it is cheap, fast, and means the document can lie reasonably flat. However, there is no spine for writing the name of the document and this binding is limited to 48 pages.
- Perfect binding. For soft cover and magazines, the sheets are held together with special glue. This method is more expensive than the other options, but looks professional and has a spine for writing the name of the document on. However, it may not lie flat on a table.
- Drill and Clip. A cost effective method of binding documents by drilling two holes and inserting a slide fastener. Additional pages can be added at a later date.
- Padding. Create in-house forms, note pads, or personalised give-aways. Pads provide easy to use tear-off forms, glued to a card base. Recommended quantity of leaves per pad is 10-30.
- Stapling. We have a heavy duty stapler that can staple up to 500 sheets. It’s the oldest machine we own (a relic from the 1970s!) but is as reliable as ever.
Other Finishing processes
- Laminating. We have laminating machines that can handle documents as small as business cards, right through to A1 size. The laminators create a professional finish to your document. You can choose from either a matt or gloss finish:
- Matt Laminate. Does not reflect light and is often a choice of preference for photographs, displays or certificates. It is the best choice when displaying inside under strong artificial light.
- Gloss Laminate. Can enhance colours, making colour prints more vibrant and effective. Printsprint uses only the highest grade of lamination film to ensure customer satisfaction. - Folding or creasing. Our folding machine can fold your A3 and A4 prints into a variety of folds that include DLE folds, gate fold or Z fold.
