APPLIED HUMANITIES

Faculty of Applied Humanities

The aim of the Faculty of Applied Humanities is to provide learning and undertake research that will benefit our communities. The Faculty is an umbrella for a broad range of subjects including education, languages, hospitality and tourism, and the social sciences.

The Faculty takes a different approach to most humanities faculties around the world – in that we pride ourselves on applying that learning to real life. Although our students learn about theory – we make sure they can apply this learning in practice while they are at University and then in the workplace.

A co-operative and caring relationship between staff and students in the Faculty fosters a positive environment for students to learn, develop and grow. Likewise, we provide a supportive work environment to encourage our staff to enable them to further their teaching and research interests.

To find out more programmes offered and research undertaken in the Faculty see our schools, centres and institutes.
